From the 27th to the 30th of January, you can visit the 48th edition of the Antiques & Art Fair at Luxexpo The Box. Around 90 exhibitors from seven different countries will offer unique collections dating back from antiquity to the present, in the shape of furniture, jewellery, paintings, sculpture, literature and other exclusive collectibles!
Art aficionados, devoted collectors, dealers or generally intrigued visitors will be enthralled by the different unique pieces the antiques and art fair has to offer. We have listed a few rare examples to offer you an insight into this unique world. For instance, a drawing of Gaston Lagaffe by André Franquin, whose prices are currently skyrocketing will be exhibited by Galerie Manuscripta. The gallery Lux-Auction will display a rare, black lacquered desk with gilt bronze ornaments, dating back to the period of Louis XIV. This piece belonged in fact, to family members of the Gage household, descendants of General Thomas Gage (1719-1787), Commander-in-Chief of the British forces in North America from 1763 to 1775.
Jewellery connoisseurs will undoubtedly be equally fascinated by the rare, gold and platinum bracelet set with 165 diamonds by the gemmologist Edelstein Prüflabor, collectors of Art Deco jewellery. Another stunning piece is the gigantic head of an elephant by artists Bernard and Arnaud Bessoud, on display at the Boyrié gallery.
The fair will also organise engaging discussions around the arts and antiques. For instance, on Friday at 12.30pm, Patricia De Zwaef, an art historian as well as certified expert on 19th and 20th century art, will present 10 things to consider when buying an art piece. On Saturday at 15.00pm, Aurore Morisse, an art dealer and buyer on the TV program “Affaire Conclue”, will present Art 3.0, explaining how the market is exported to television. Laure Dorchy, an art historian and independent expert, specialised in the history of jewellery and silverware, will discuss creativity as a woman’s weapon of emancipation in a man’s world, with the example of Jeanne Toussaint, the Belgian Grande Dame of Cartier, on Sunday at 15.00pm.
Last but not least, a delightful brunch will be waiting for you on Sunday from 11am to 3pm, for the price of 40€. Ticket entry to the fair is 9€, with free entry for children under 15.
