GluFree pancake and more, has just opened its doors in the heart of the Bonnevoie district and offers a 100% gluten-free menu. It’s a new address that’s sure to please gluten-intolerant diners, but not only.
The menu includes sweet and savoury pancakes, sandwiches, and pastries, all to be enjoyed in pleasant surroundings.
Opening a restaurant for her daughter
It all began with an upheaval in Sandra Tinelli’s life. In 2009, her daughter was diagnosed with celiac disease, an autoimmune disorder that causes severe intolerance to gluten. Sandra quickly realised that eating out was complicated for her daughter. “Few restaurants can guarantee that there is no risk of cross-contamination, and my daughter often eats with a lump in her stomach, for fear that the dishes might contain traces of gluten.”
Sandra wants to avoid this stomachache at all costs, not only for her daughter but also for other carriers of the disease. “Talking to other intolerant people, I realised that there was no restaurant for them in Luxembourg, so I decided to create one”. Quite simply.
“I know a bit about the restaurant business (she worked for 18 years at Horesca, on the administrative side, editor’s note), and I’m surrounded by friends and family,” she admits. That’s all it took for this passionate mum to embark on her entrepreneurial adventure.

Homemade gluten-free pancakes
The choice to offer pancakes was an obvious one. “It’s my daughter’s favourite breakfast,” she tells us. It took a lot of trial and error in the kitchen to find the perfect recipe. To make the dough, Sandra uses Nutrifree, a 100% gluten-free Italian flour. “I have sourced all my products myself, and they are guaranteed to be gluten-free”.
On the menu, you’ll find 4 choices of savoury pancakes, with recipes from Sandra and made in the kitchen with her mum. “We prepare everything ourselves, such as the pesto, hummus or the grilled vegetables”. As for sweet pancakes, red fruits are in the spotlight this season, accompanied by Marcello ice cream (by Goeres).
Products for everyone
Sandra wanted to offer a range of gourmet products to suit everyone. “Celiac or not, a family who comes here to eat has to enjoy themselves”. The menu therefore includes a range of sandwiches and pastries (muffins, brownies, galettes) from a Belgian artisan bakery, L’Atelier d’Elena, which is certified 100% gluten-free. “I want people who are gluten intolerant to be able to make their choice with their eyes closed, without any risk to their health.”
As for drinks, there’s Ortea iced tea and Let’z soft drinks (limo, cola, orange). The restaurant has an alcohol licence, and you can try gluten-free beers as well as organic wines from Alsace.

At Kachen, we were won over by the savoury pancakes, fluffy and light, served with a delicious homemade pesto, tomatoes and burrata. The result is fresh and delicious, perfect for the summer season that’s just around the corner! For a Nordic breakfast, we also really enjoyed the pancake with smoked salmon and avocado, served with a garlic crème fraîche. Simply delicious!
Savoury pancakes from €12.80 to €18, and sweet pancakes from €9 to €14. There is a special price for children, 6.50 for classic pancakes and 9.50 for savoury ones.
